3 common problems a chiropractor can help with

Posted on: 15 January 2018

Chiropractors are there to treat you when your body stops being able to move and function as well as it should. While it is classified as an alternative medicine, chiropractors are a well known method of treatment, and can be effective at treating a range of aches, pains and more serious problems. It does not matter if you have had a sudden accident which has caused your problem, a work related injury, or a wider problem which has been ongoing in many forms for several years.

Regardless of whether you have been referred to a chiropractor by a friend, colleague, insurance or medical plan or your general practitioner, most chiropractors will start by assessing the extent of your injury, move on to remedying the immediate pain points before working with you over the longer term to fix the problem for good. While a chiropractor is not the right choice in every situation, there are lots of aches and pains, as well as more serious injuries, which treatment can be effective for. Here are three situations when you might want to consider booking an appointment.

Back pain

Back pain is one of the most common complaints that chiropractors will work on. Typically, the work of chiropractors revolves around issues with the spine, so they are well placed to be able to diagnose back pain problems and suggest exercises and treatments to help. They may begin by taking X-rays to assess the full extent of the problem and rule out whether you need surgery to solve the problem. Back pain is typically treated with manipulation, though they may suggest other alternative therapies for you to try.

Neck pain

In a world where most people spend all day looking at a computer screen, neck pain is an increasingly common problem. Not only will a chiropractor be able to treat the immediate source of the pain and provide immediate relief for neck pain, they can also work with you on exercises and techniques to prevent your neck pain from returning, or at least lessen its impact. This could include working on how you hold your neck when looking at a computer or strengthening exercises.

Sport injuries

Whether you picked up an injury whilst training for a marathon, injured yourself skiing or are looking for a preventive treatment before an ache ends your ability to take part in sport, a chiropractor will be able to help. It is important that you see a chiropractor as soon as you begin to develop symptoms, particularly if you are training several times a week. If you are an inexperienced runner training for an event, you may also want to seek the advice of a practitioner before you begin to get your body into peak condition and check for any warning signs that you should not start training.

Candy's Chiropractor Blog

Hello! My name is Candy and this is my new blog. For many years, I have suffered from back pain. I used to take a lot of pain medication to try and deal with the problem. However, nothing really worked. In the end, my friend suggested that I book an appointment with my local chiropractor clinic. I was kind of nervous before the appointment but I soon realised that I had nothing to worry about. The chiropractor carried out various massages on my back and taught me some simple exercises that I could do to help to treat my backpain.
